Mr Lee Kuan Yew Is Racist?

Mr Lee Kuan Yew is racist! This is what he said about the Malay Muslim community. Mr Lee had said that multi-racialism in Singapore was “progressing very nicely until the surge of Islam came”.

“I think we were progressing very nicely until the surge of Islam came, and if you asked me for my observations, the other communities have easier integration — friends, intermarriages and so on, Indians with Chinese, Chinese with Indians — than Muslims.” “I would say today, we can integrate all religions and races except Islam. I think the Muslims socially do not cause any trouble, but they are distinct and separate,” he added.

Mr Lee went on to share on his experience of working with politicians of his generation, and how they were able to integrate well with each other, including sitting down to eat.
He also said, “But now, you go to schools with Malay and Chinese, there’s a halal and non-halal segment and so, too, the universities. And they tend to sit separately so as not to be contaminated. All that becomes a social divide.”

Wow. That’s all I can say. If that’s not racist enough than I don’t know what is. How can he say such things and not offend the Muslim Community here in Singapore? There are already many intermarriages here in Singapore of all races and religion including the Muslim. I personally know Malays who are dating Chinese. So Mr Lee, what do you mean by integration?

And when you said distinct and separate because Muslims are only able to eat Halal foods, that I strongly do not agree. We have Buddhist who don’t eat muttons, we have vegetarians who don’t eat meat, so why aren’t they distinct and separate in your point of view? Also, as we know, majority of Singaporeans are Chinese and I’ve been eating side by side with them for years. My Chinese boss would buy their Chinese food and I buy my Halal food and sit on the the same table. So what’s the issue? What social divide are you talking about?

I am not speaking for myself but majority of Singaporeans which includes Non-Muslim community also disagree when this was brought up. Also, I found an article dated 2005-09-18 from the Straits Time which wrote.

It does not matter whether inflammatory racist remarks are made online or offline, it is still against the law to stir up distrust and enmity between the races. And the Singapore government will act against anyone who threatens racial and religious harmony, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong yesterday (Sept 17).

I can’t stop laughing when I read this. Lee Hsien Loong is the eldest son of Lee Kuan Yew. So readers, you decide for yourself. I’m just worried for the future of Singapore. It’s so contradicting.

  1. He is trying to sell his book?
Or is he too senile already lol XD

  2. The only tension here in Singapore is only the FTs not the locals. The locals were doing great till the FTs took almost everything in their way.

  3. what’s wrong with him………………………………..?

  4. Mr LKY may have said this with good intent in his heart but he no longer realises that this is not the Singapore of 1990s, in this day and age majority of singaporeans hold a grudge against the govt for the influx of foreign talents even though some are not even talents. Thus his comments will be scrutinised and it was wrong of him to say that about the malay community and unfortunately the govt has to take action to send a clear message to everyone Foreign talents, PR and Singaporeans alike that racism or any racial comments which is able to create raial and religious disharmony is not tolerated ….. even if he was once our prime minister

That is only fair and appropriate …. This incident may have an influence over the results of the General Elections
This case is a very delicate one as the govts actions will be looked at closely by every Singaporean especially Secondary school Kids who are learnin social Studies ….. They will see if what they have learnt about Racial Harmony and the Singapore Govts stand against racism or any racial comments which is able to create raial and religious disharmony

This is really the case that every Singaporean will look at

  5. MM LEE IS A F***ING DOG BLOODY IDIOT. FRANKLY SPEAKING, I AM A CHINESE BUT I PREFER MALAY FRIENDS MORE AS THEY ARE MORE SOCIABLE. HOW CAN THE F***ING OLD MAN SAID LIKE THAT??? MOTHER ****** IF ONE DAY HE HAPPENS TO SHAKE HAND WITH ME, I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL SPIT AT HIS F***ING 87 YEARS OLD BLOODY DOG FACE SON OF A B****…..

  6. What is the process of classifying living things based on their size, shape, and colour?

    Racism. =3

That aside, I would say MM Lee is really pointing these things out to us. But you just can’t help but wonder what he was thinking when he used phrases like “do not cause any trouble” or words like “contaminated”. (Cough radiation cough)

MM, the meaning to you is not the same meaning we understand. Those who interpret it as conferring a negative image to Malays and any other race in SG, they will be the first ones to believe they are being looked down on. It’s true he is a good speaker, but every last word matters when it comes from him.
