For my entire life, i have been living in Singapore and i pretty much know how this country works. Not just me, but every single Singaporean knows that nothing is ever free here. You will have to pay for every single thing and this is the only place you’ll never survive without job and money. The typical life of an average Singaporean is mostly spent on their work. A house is basically a place for them to sleep and again, work. The only time that most of us are free is actually Sunday. If it’s an off day, it’s definitely a day to enjoy and make it worthwhile before your working life starts again.

How we spent our leisure time really depends on individual. Some would prefer sleeping and resting the whole day while others prefer to engage in their favourite hobbies or activities. In Singapore, there are only a few activities that you can enjoy without spending much money. One good example will be fishing. I have to admit that this has been one of my favourite activity and i’m sure most of the guys out there share the same too.

It’s the only time where you can have fun with your closed ones while enjoying outdoor life. But recently, i was so speechless when my cousin told me this shockingly outrageous news. For your info, he has been my fishing “kaki” for years. The news that he told me was that fisherman will need to apply for license to fish in Singapore waters. I seriously thought it was a joke until i read up on the actual article on Straits Time.

LEISURE anglers may soon have to pay for a licence before they can drop their line and bait into Singapore waters.

Local fishing groups such as the Sport Fishing Association of Singapore (SFAS) and the Gamefish and Aquatic Rehabilitation Society (Gars) are working with national water agency PUB to come up with a licensing scheme for fishing.

PUB’s director of catchment and waterways, Mr Tan Nguan Sen, told The Straits Times in an e-mail: ‘By controlling the number of anglers, it is hoped that the ecosystem will not be affected while sustaining sport fishing as a popular recreational activity.’ – Source: Straits Time

Scroll down on the comment section there and you can see many Singaporeans who totally disagree with this idea. The authorities really need to consider this. It is so absurd that some even commented that maybe in the future Singaporeans will even need license to breathe. Yes it’s a joke for now but who knows in the future this might just be true. The reason for them to imply this license for fishing is to control the number of fishes in the sea? Have they ever heard of the saying, “there are many fishes in the sea..” It’s already bad that in Singapore waters, we don’t have huge fishes. All we ever caught were fishes that can fit in a plastic bag and the authorities are concern about the fishes getting extinct?

Honestly just get straight to the point. It’s all about the money. Nothing to do with fishing, fishes or the ecosystem. The authorities don’t care about any of those. Not even their own people living in Singapore. At the end of the day, our hard earned money is all spent on bills and taxes for the government. Seriously, someone or something needs to be done before Singapore becomes a place for money-minded zombies.

This week i’ve been going home late and sleeping late so that explains why i didn’t blog for the past 2 days. On Friday night, Ein and me went fishing again at the usual place. Fishing has been my new hobby lately. We won’t be going fishing next week as Ein will be going to reservist. But i hope he’s happy with this week’s catch. We caught a few fishes and this week’s big catch was another catfish. We even got a “tripod stand” fish lol.

So we went back on a Saturday morning. I slept the whole day only to wake up at 10p.m at night. I rushed, took a shower and get myself ready. I had to see Axwell perform at Zouk. The best i went was Laidback Luke last year and i have to say Axwell is also freaking amazing. The crowd was tremendous. It’s good in a way to know that everyone love Axwell but on the other side, it was so damn packed that i could hardly move. What i hate the most when clubbing is to see those “cool” dude wannabes just standing at the dancefloor doing nothing. C’mon man, if you wanna act cool, stand outside our anywhere but not on the dancefloor. Well i guess no one ever emphasize the word “DANCEfloor” to these people.

Overall, this week has been great. I even managed to shake hands with Axwell. Here we go again, the weekend is over. Tomorrow is another Monday Blue’s for all of us. Oh and yes, i really have to focus on getting my license. I have not been taking any lessons lately! I’m behind schedule! So many things to achieve but i guess i’m just not focused to what i want. I’ll get my license soon i promise.
